As an enhanced storybooking specialist, Debbie's professional
services include:
Story Enhancement
Clarifying the audience and purpose
of preserving this family memory.
Reviewing an initial draft of your
story for completeness. (I often find that people
write down
about 80% of what they want to say,
but it appears to them to be 100% because all of it
is
stored in their brains. I assist in getting
the other 20% on paper). Researching additional
information may be recommended.
Editing your story for structure,
spelling, cohesiveness, and flow. Be assured that
it remains
your story.
Visual Enhancement
Compiling a photo album and determining
a visual parallel to the story.
Finding more photos, taking additional
photos, downloading representative photos from
on-line sources, or even creating appropriate
visuals, as recommended.
Design Enhancement
Designing a beautiful and unique storybook
for the ones you love -- to celebrate your story
and to preserve your heritage.
Debbie Worthen, Enhanced Storybook Specialist
Debbie Worthen spent many years as a Publications
Manager at a major western university. In that capacity,
she edited, proofed, designed, and marketed many products
sold nationally. She has continued to freelance on
various publication projects.
She has used her enhanced storybooking techniques
in two Heritage Makers photo journals. One, a Heritage
Makers award winner, is The Dress. This is
about her parent's courtship and marriage, preserving
the family's oral account of "mom's wedding dress
was made out of dad's parachute from World War II."
Even as the actual dress has been preserved, so now
has the heritage it represents.
Let It Be Remembered, published in October
2007, is based upon the talks at her father's funeral
five months earlier. Professional, family, and personal
memories are shared with a complementary photo essay.
Bits and pieces of memories from throughout the years
are now preserved together for generations to enjoy.
